Celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Drive-In Theater by hosting your own outdoor movie! The original drive-in movie concept was developed in 1933 by Richard Hollingshead Jr., who experimented with various projection and sound techniques in the driveway of his house. Using a 1928 Kodak projector mounted on the hood of his car, he projected movies onto a screen attached to nearby trees. He received a patent for his drive-in theater idea in May 1933 and opened his first venue just three weeks later. |
