Backyard Movies and Commercial Events Your event is important to us. That's why we use commercial sound reinforcement equipment and venue-class video projectors. Professional-class gear delivers an unforgettable night of movie magic! Our basic backyard package includes a 12-foot inflatable movie screen and stereo sound for as low as $250. To really wow your guests, step up to the giant 17-foot truss-mounted screen. If you want sound that's as big as the picture, add the DTS/Dolby Digital Surround option! |
Celebrate the 77th anniversary of the Drive-In Theater by hosting your own outdoor movie! The original drive-in movie concept was developed in 1933 by Richard Hollingshead Jr., who experimented with various projection and sound techniques in the driveway of his house. Using a 1928 Kodak projector mounted on the hood of his car, he projected movies onto a screen attached to nearby trees. He received a patent for his drive-in theater idea in May 1933 and opened his first venue just three weeks later. |

Requirements The 12-foot screen (up to 100 guests) requires a space that is at least 30 feet deep by 20 feet wide. The 17-foot screen (up to 250 guests) requires 40' x 30'. The theater is powered by a standard 20 amp circuit, but it can't have anything else (heaters, A/C, refrigerators) plugged into the same circuit. We can bring our own power generator for an additional fee. The area must be accessible by vehicle. We can dolly the equipment short distances across flat terrain. For commercial and public events, a performance license must be obtained. Seattle Starlight Cinema can assist you in obtaining the appropriate licenses.
